Events for the 2024 Double Ninth Festival – Senior Elderly Volunteers Cultural Heritage Annual Presentation: Celebrating Senior Strength and Timeless Skills

The Department of Social Welfare, Taipei City Government, presented the Events for the 2024 Double Ninth Festival – Senior Elderly Volunteers Cultural Heritage Annual Presentation — in collaboration and celebration of the Taipei Zoo’s 110th anniversary. This lively gathering incorporated the charm of animal-themed elements and interactive stamp rally games, inviting citizens of all ages to discover and appreciate the city’s treasured senior volunteers. An awards ceremony was also held to honor outstanding senior volunteers, expressing gratitude for their selfless contribution and dedication to Taipei City over the years, while encouraging a new generation of seniors to pass on their wisdom and warmth to society. In 2024, a total of 90 senior volunteers shared their cultural heritage and life skills across 167 locations, including public and private kindergartens, schools, family-friendly childcare centers, social welfare organizations, senior care facilities, and community care hubs. Their efforts reached a wide demographic, from young children to older adults, promoting intergenerational inclusion and reinforcing Taipei’s vision of a vibrant, age-friendly city where active aging and legacy thrive.
