The Taipei Municipal Xing'ai Residential Long-Term Care Institution was opened and began operations. The institution is the first government-owned and privately-run residential long-term care institution in the Neihu District that can provide 79 people in need of care home services. Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an said that by participating in the construction of social housing and establishing social welfare facilities into the community, Taipei City aims to provide high-qualified institutional residential long-term care services and facilities, and hope to enhance an access of social welfare resources in the future. He added that these measures will hopefully become a pillar for family members and elderly people with disabilities. In addition, Xing'ai Happiness Academy plans health and restorative care activities for the elderly and encourages social housing tenants to collaborate with the institution to create a friendly space for integration of intergenerational communities. The Department of Social Welfare will continue to actively deploy various care resources to create an age-friendly care and living environment. Through interagency and public-private cooperation, the department hopes to provide a variety of service models for the city's elderly, realizing the goal of "respect, care, support, and peace for the elderly."
