One-Armed Basketball Superstar Kevin Atlas Praises Taipei's Innovative and Inclusive Facilities and Friendly Environment that Allows People to Live More Comfortably

In order to promote equality in sports, one-armed American basketball player Kevin Atlas led a group of five NCAA players to Taiwan to support the 2024 "Friendly Hoops" project. The project advocates that one in six hoops on every basketball court should be an accessible hoop so that the physically or mentally disabled or the vulnerable have the opportunity to play. Mayor Chiang Wan-an stated that Kevin Atlas is the first one-armed player to play on an NCAA Division I team. Having been ignored or marginalized often on the court, Atlas's support of the project is particularly meaningful and serves as a further appeal to all sectors of society to emphasize equality in sports and raise awareness about barrier-free environments.
