Major Events 2020

January
01  In accordance with the Taipei City Government Social Housing Policy, the Department of Social Welfare, Taipei City Government terminated the application for Yenji low-income housing from January 1, 2020. Since then, all the low-income housing in Taipei City ceased to receive any application or accommodation allocation.
 
March
03  The Department of Social Welfare, Taipei City Government organized an inauguration ceremony of the Taipei City Dongming Infant Day Care Center in the Dongming Social Housing to install the second quality public infant day care center in Nankang District.
 
July
01  The Department of Social Welfare, Taipei City Government added an extra one thousand bonus to Stimulus Vouchers for the Elderly, making Taipei to be the only city in Taiwan to implement such a program. As of October 12, 2020, 184,134 Taipei Senior Easycards received the top-up of extra one thousand dollar in addition to the existing Stimulus Vouchers.
 
August
01  In joint with Teacher Chang Foundation and web illustrator James, author of My Deer Dog, a press conference under the theme of “Three tips to keep parents calm and children happy” was organized by Taipei City Center of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault to promote a slogan, “Three steps for parent-child interaction.” It is recorded that 600 people participated in the activity.
24  Due to its relentless efforts to promoting internet safety for children and youth, the Department of Social Welfare, Taipei City Government was bestowed with Award of Appreciation by iWIN, Institute of Watch Internet Network.
 
September
24   The opening of Shilin Women and Family Service Center marks the first joint use of office space with the City’s Social Welfare Center. The two centers work together to design and put forth appropriate services and activities by considering women’s life cycle and demands.
26  The Department of Social Welfare organized a community-based Parent-child campaign under the theme of “COVID-19 Prevention for a Healthy and Happy Life, in which 456 people joined. The activity last until 27 September.
 
October
30  Taipei City Center for Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault released Easy Read booklets on various topics including Domestic Violence Prevention, No More Bully: Treatment Program for Domestic Violence Offenders, It hurts: More Care for Children with Social Workers, Say No to Sexual Assault, How does law protect me after sexual assault?, and What to do if I get pregnant after sexual assault?.
 
November
02   The Department of Social Welfare, Parks and Street Lights Office, Public Works Department, Taipei City Government and Taipei Railway station work together to implement a “Friendly Luggage Area for the Homeless” program by encouraging the homeless to deposit their personal belongings in dedicated areas, which ensures their luggage safety, guarantees the public space readily available to the citizens and achieves the goal of a friendly and inclusive city.
26  A groundbreaking ceremony for the“New Construction for Social Welfare Facilities in Wanlong East Military Camp”was held by the Department of Social Welfare and the New Construction Office, Public Works Department, Taipei City Department.
28  The Social Department, Taipei City Government organized 2020 International Day of Persons with Disabilities: Easy Read Easy Life Achievement Exhibition, in which more than 20 results have been showcased. The exhibition ended on December 6.
