The Department of Social Welfare launched the “i-care Emergency Rescue Service” to protect the safety of over 5,000 solitary senior citizens in Taipei.

 

The Department of Social Welfare transferred the administration of private School-age Child Care Centers to the Department of Education as a consequence of the enforcement of the amended Protection of Children and Youths Welfare and Rights Act.

The Department of Social Welfare held the opening ceremony for the Taipei City Dalong General Welfare Service Center, the first public residential building at the Taipei City Dalong Elderly Residence designed for those with visual impairments. Taipei City Dalong Assisted Living Facility Center for people with disabilities is also located within the same building.

The Department of Social Welfare and the Catholic Good Shepherd Foundation co-organized the 2013 International Conference on Application and Practice of Resilience in Social Work and Outreach Work with High-risk Adolescents– an International Dialog. Over 200 specialists attended the event.

Students from Taipei City Yangming Home for the Disabled participated in the 2013 Taipei Disabled Games, winning the 100 meter dash gold medal, 200 meter dash silver medal, and first place of Group BC2 in the boccia competition. They also claimed two group gold medals and four group silver medals at the Special Olympics Chinese Taipei 2013.

The Taipei City Yangming Home for the Disabled participated in the 22th Special Sports for the Mentally Disabled and won five gold medals, 10 silver medals and two bronze medals.

The Department of Social Welfare held a gathering to celebrate the 2013 International Day of Disabled Persons. 510 people from 35 disability organizations attended.
