9 The Department of Social Welfare of the Taipei City Government organized the 2009 Mother’s Day celebration – the Spectrum of Love and the Blossoms of Smile. Articles and photographs were solicited for awards.

15 The Department of Social Welfare of the Taipei City Government implemented pickup services for senior citizens with severe handicaps. The senior citizens were given fare subsidies to visit hospitals or clinics for medical care or rehab.
21 The Mortuary Services Office of the Taipei City Government was reassigned from the Department of Social Welfare of the Taipei City Government to the Department of Civil Affairs of the Taipei City Government. The handing-over ceremony was held in the Citizens Assembly Hall in the Xinyi District.

20 The Department of Social Welfare of the Taipei City Government conducted the 2009 International Day of Disabled Persons. The day’s events included the Flash Mob campaign, themed movie showings and seminars.
25 The Department of Social Welfare of the Taipei City Government organized the 2009 National Community Development Community-Based Welfare Demonstration Fair and the Citation Ceremony for Outstanding Community Development Projects. 1,200 people were in attendance.

6 The Department of Social Welfare of the Taipei City Government organized the International Volunteer Day – “Volunteering Knows No Boundary, Together Let’s Overcome the Hurdles.” 115 people were in attendance.
