The 2026 Foster Family Certification Ceremony was held by the Taipei City Government this year in collaboration with the Taipei Branch of the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families as well as the Christian Salvation Service, during which Mayor Chiang Wan-an presented foster families with service certifications. Among the certified families, Mr. and Mrs. Pu have devoted themselves to foster care services since they were in their 30s. After 31 years of service, they have cared for a total of 16 children. Mayor Chiang Wan-an expressed his special thanks to all the foster families for their long-term contributions, which have allowed children to grow up in a safe and nurturing environment during these important stages of their lives. Taipei City is promoting three major policy upgrades for its “Caring for the Future Together with Parents” initiative. The city expects to add 16 public-private infant daycare centers by the end of 2026, thereby increasing the capacity of public childcare by more than 600 children. Additionally, the accessible childcare grant is increased starting from July, raising the subsidy for sending children to quasi-public childcare service units from NT$5,000 to NT$8,000. Parents will only need to pay NT$2,500 per month, while full subsidies will be provided for parents’ second children or later. Moreover, starting from September, families with newborns can apply for 8 hours of free temporary childcare vouchers, and the number of drop-in childcare locations is expanded to 45. The Taipei City Government has launched the “Taipei City All-Gender Restroom Certification Program” with an aim to create safe, private, and high-quality restroom environments through clear criteria. The first batch of 12 restrooms at 8 institutions, including Soochow University among others, passed the evaluation and were awarded the certification by Mayor Chiang Wan-an, demonstrating Taipei City’s strong commitment to respecting and embracing gender diversity.Mayor Chiang Wan-an publicly commended certified institutions, for partnering with the city government to create gender-friendly environments

The Taipei City Government held a press conference today (the 22nd) at the Wanhua Seniors Service Center for the 2026 “Mutual Prosperity and Love on the Double Ninth Festival” event. At the press conference, Mayor Chiang Wan-an announced the schedule for receiving Double Ninth Festival cash gifts in 2026, as well as several improvements to Taipei Senior Easycards, including increasing the monthly points to 600 starting in July and expanding its uses. Furthermore, Mr. Liu Meng-de, an influencer known as the “Playful Old Man,” was invited to speak at the event and share his experiences. He had bravely fulfilled his dreams after retiring of traveling to Japan to study, conquering the Camino de Santiago, and receiving over 30 professional certifications, demonstrating that a person’s later years can still be full of excitement!
