Special status assessment for social housing to support single parents and create a gender-friendly city
Since 2020, Taipei City has introduced a series of housing policies for disadvantaged groups. By implementing special status assessment mechanism for social housing, it assists households with special status in obtaining priority for social housing. To create a friendly environment for single-parent childcare, the evaluation mechanisms for households with special status were revised in 2022. The evaluation scores were raised for the two items of "under 7 years old" and "7 to 18 years old" in the household, to help single-parent families increase their chances of obtaining social housing.In 2024, the Department of Social Welfare also introduced the social housing service leasing model for NPOs to provide interim housing for vulnerable groups through public-private partnerships. In 2025, two more service sites were added at the Youth Social Housing in Wanhua District and the Guangci Social Housing in Xinyi District, providing 24transitional independent housing and expanding services to families in special circumstances, victims of domestic violence, elderly people living alone, and homeless people.Disadvantaged people living in social housing participated in the year-end dinner activities
